I have seen the KeySmart system a number of times on Instagram and thought hey this is an awesome way to carry your keys. It's very smart (sorry about the pun) but it is, I have found it to be a light weight system and very easy to install.

I received the standard KeySmart in Red (match’s the colour of my car), Extender studs, 8GB Thumb drive and bottle opener.

So what is KeySmart? I could spend a paragraph or two explaining it but I think KeySmart’s own video will do it so much more justice, so check out the video below.

KeySmart Assembly...

Here is another video from KeySmart showing how to setup your KeySmart.

My Setups...

I was looking at the KeySmart and thinking what I could install in it, of course the House Key's one for the Security door and one for the main door, then the Letterbox Key, ok I still have some space left... The 8GB Thumb drive and the lanyard attachment. Ok I now had everything installed and ready to test. Here are some of the configurations I have tried.

I love using my TEC Accessories P-7 Suspension clip and as I had one that I was using with my house key's originally I thought I would give it a go with the KeySmart, It worked great when I wore my Hard Yakka Carogo shorts as I would carry my Esee Avispa in a tradie pocket rather than the right front pocket and could carry the KeySmart there.

With board shorts or other types of shorts where I only had the front pockets I had to carry the KeySmart attached to the TEC P-7 with my Ultimate Key Chain, pocket became very full and a bit heavy, I even almost lost the KeySmart as it feel down in-between my car seat and the middle console.

I always carry my Ultimate Key Chain with me so thought how would the KeySmart look on it and would it work? It did add more weight to the Key Chain but it was very serviceable and came in handy a couple of times, in this photo it was in the middle I moved it to the position of the Leatherman PS4 and it balanced out well.

While doing some research on the KeySmart I saw that a few EDCer's had used a glow fob attached to their KeySmart's, I had tried this but it was long enough to sit down the side of the KeySmart, I attached a second snap ring to the KeySmart and bingo it worked. I think for me this is the best option as I don't mind the KeySmart riding at the bottom of my pocket, it will also make it easier to find in the night.

As I stated above that I had done some research on the internet to see what and how people were using their KeySmart's and happened to come across a review it had some negative comments about how the Key's don't sit flush in the KeySmart and protrude a bit outwards, for me I really didn't find it as a bad thing in fact for me it made it easier to grab the key I wanted.

What else did I like well the fact I now had more grip and control opening doors or my letterbox padlock, the ability to have a USB Thumb drive on me at all times is just so handy and that it comes in 8, 16, 32, or 64 GB USB 2.0 will meet evryones needs, this could also be said about the bottle opener attachement. As you can see in the below photo the Bottle Opener attachment will be very handy in the Summer months.

I have now added my car security fob to my KeySmart and I also have one of my TEC-A3 Glow Fob attached makes it easier to find my keys at night, check out our Store for the Glow Fobs in three materials – Aluminium, Stainless Steel and Titanium.

Out Come...

So after using the KeySmart for just over a week in different formats, I have found that in my view the KeySmart is a very well thought out piece of equipment and that any and all EDCer's should have this as part of their main EDC, I for one love my KeySmart it is not bulky like some other systems on the market, it is light weight, it does the job that it advertises and the price is great, and it caters for everyone, may have to get one for my Wife next maybe a Purple one.
